Paper Piecing Technique for a handmade card

Paper piecing is a popular papercraft technique that can be used to create unique designs and patterns. While paper piecing can be done with any type of paper, it can also be done with stamps, adding a new dimension to your stamping projects. In this blog post, we will explore how to use your stamps for paper piecing. Read on for a little inspiration on how to use this technique in your cardmaking.

Craft Products Used

  • American Crafts Cardstock
  • White Card
  • Doll stamp (or stamp of your choice)
  • Spectrum Noir Tri Blend Pens
  • Scrap/off Cuts Patterned Papers
  • Versafine Black Ink
  • Stamping Block
  • Sentiment Stamp
  • Embellishments
  • Glue
  • Black Fineline Pen

Step One

Stamp your image onto white cardstock using your black versafine ink pad.

Step Two

Colour any parts of the image you need to using your colouring medium of choice (I have used Spectrum Noir tri blend pens) then cut around your image and set aside.

Step Three

Select a variety of patterned paper from your scrap stash and then stamp different parts of your image onto different papers.

Step Four

Cut around the stamped paper to create paper pieces that will cover your original stamped image.

Step Six

Cut a DL card out of American Crafts card stock then trim off the top corners to create a large tag shaped card, repeat this process with some white card stock leaving ¼” border to create your matt and layer.

Step Seven

Stick down your layers then add your image to the front using some 3D foam pads for dimension.

Step Eight

Take a black fineline pen and create a faux stitching pattern all around your card.

Step nine

Stamp a sentiment of your choice and then add this and your choice of gems or embellishment to finish off the front of your card.
