Crafter's Companion turns 17 in 2022!

Crafter's Companion kick off their 17th birthday celebrations. They have acheived so much throughout the years and soon became one of the most loved brands in the crafting world. Marking the anniversary, we take a closer look at key milestones for Sara Davies and her incredible team.

2005

Crafter's Companion started life as a big dream in Sara Davies' little university bedroom. After spotting a gap in the market for a product that allowed crafters to make envelopes in bespoke sizes, she created the Enveloper. With a debut sell-out show on Ideal World and thousands of units sold, this is still a much-loved tool to this day.

As demand grew for more fresh concepts in the UK, so did the interest from the crafting community overseas. July 2007 saw Crafter's Companion open the US branch of the business, shortly followed by the brand's launch on the HSN.

The Ultimate Pro made its way on to the scene in January 2008 and quickly became a fan favourite amongst papercrafters. The 10-in-1 compact carry case was designed to create and decorate boxes, card blanks, envelopes and so much more, and over 250,000 units have been sold to date. It is a staple in many papercrafters' collections.

Sara developed a keen interest in breaking into the art industry and in December 2012, Spectrum Noir, the affordable artist quality art and colouring brand was launched. With markers, pencils, inkpads, liquid inks, tools and so much more, this is a brand that continues to grow and flourish, providing beautiful products to artists of all ability levels.

After seeing the popularity of the papercraft and art areas of the business, it only made sense for Crafter's Companion to expand into needlecrafts. The range is ever-growing, but currently stocks specialist multi media dies, fabrics, essential machines and more, all of which are loved and endorsed by the needlecraft community.

The Gemini Machine remains one of their most popular products to date, having sold over 230,000 units (and counting). This coveted machine started life in April 2016 and took the die-cutting world by storm, but has since developed into a whole line of machines in various sizes and functions, including the hot foiling FOILPRESS Machine. With online sales booming, it made sense to listen to demand and open a retail arm of Crafter’s Companion. Following a move to a new head office, stores opened in Chesterfield and Evesham, as well as concessions in Boundary Mill Colne.
